Information we collect
- Account details: names, emails, and passwords for parents and any invited legal team.
- Case content you post: messages, schedules, documents, and requests.
- Legal-team content: documents, tasks, reports, and export history within a legal team's side of a case.
- Usage and technical data: how the service is used, device and connection information, and export activity.
How we use it
We use this information to run the service: to coordinate communication and records, to run automated moderation and the timeline and insights features, to bill the subscription, and to keep accounts and data secure. We do not sell your personal information.
Automated analysis
Messages in a shared record are analyzed automatically to estimate tone and sentiment (for example, likely anger or hostility) so we can flag messages that may escalate and summarize activity. This analysis is used to operate the service and support reviewable communication. We do not use your personal or case content to train new AI models. You control what is in your records and can export or delete what you no longer want to keep.
Shared vs. private
Content meant for the whole case — messages actually sent between parents, shared status, selected documents, and shared reminders — is visible to the people the case is meant to connect. Each side's private work, such as meetings with an attorney, internal notes, strategy, and side-owned documents, stays scoped to that side. For the full boundary model, see our What Stays Private page.
Children's information
TruceWell is used by parents, not children, and we do not knowingly create accounts for children. Messages and documents about a family's children may include personal details about them as part of a parent's case; that content is handled under the parents' and legal team's control, not the children's. If you believe we hold a child's information that we collected without appropriate consent, contact us and we will review it.
Sharing and disclosure
We share information with a family's invited legal team as part of the case, with the trusted service providers who host and operate TruceWell (for example, hosting, billing, and analytics), and when required to respond to a valid legal request. We do not sell personal information to third parties for advertising.
Security
We protect information with encryption in transit and at rest, access controls limited to the people who need it, and an audit history of case-level activity. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access will never occur. If we discover a breach that may affect you, we will notify you and cooperate with the relevant authorities.
Retention, export, and deletion
Your records stay available while your case is active. You can export your records at any time. When you delete a case or close your account, we delete your content on the schedule described at that time, except where we must keep records for legal, tax, or security reasons. Some information may remain in backups or audit logs for a limited period.
Your choices
You can access, correct, export, and request deletion of your personal information, and you can cancel your subscription at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights (for example, to access or port your data, or to opt out of certain processing); to exercise any of these, use the contact below.
